FIFA World Cup 2026 Match Today Live Score: In a battle between two unbeaten teams from Group E at the Toronto Stadium, an imperial-looking Germany takes on a dangerous Ivory Coast team. A win today will secure a place in the Round of 32 for either team in the FIFA World Cup 2026. In their opening game, Germany scored six goals against hapless Curacao in their opening game, after the two sides drew 1-1, to win by a margin of 7-1. Meanwhile, Ivory Coast beat Ecuador with a late goal.
Despite beating Curacao 7-1, the prevailing feeling in the Germany camp is that they could have scored more goals.

“We could have scored a lot more goals,” Joshua Kimmich said after that match. “One thing we have seen in the first few games of the tournament is that, even against weak opposition, it is not an easy task to win them comfortably and by a large margin.” Speaking about their next opponents, Kimmich said: “Côte d’Ivoire have some spectacular attacking players and are really good in transition.”
Kimmich has singled out Ivory Coast youngster Yann Diomande as a player he will keep an eye on, as a defender. “His development has been crazy,” Kimmich said. “The way he dribbles is particularly unusual with his “start-stop” style. He reminds me a bit of Kingsley. [Coman] When he was with us at Bayern Munich. He can accelerate really quickly, stop dead to take a defender out of the game and then accelerate again.”

Germany is going through a cultural transition with multiculturalism. Of the 26 in the team, 12 are of migrant background. Leading the charge is Jamal Musiala, born to a German mother and British-Nigerian father. When a team made up largely of immigrants fails, people misunderstand it as a failure of immigrants.
Fans have more sports reasons to worry. They lament not having a leader. They have another tongue-twisting German term—Fuhrungspieler (Fuhrung = lead, spieler = player), embodied by the legendary Franz Beckenbauer, given to Lothar Mathews, Michael Ballack and Philipp Lahm. Joshua Kimmich is his successor, but he has not transformed into the powerful leader he has become. There was a time when he was labeled as the next Tony Cruise, but that plateaued. A reliable passer and ball circulator, he lacks the command of the aforementioned names.
