Norway vs England, FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final: The much-anticipated blockbuster clash between Erling Haaland’s Norway and Harry Kane’s England will take place on July 11 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

FIFA has named veteran 44-year-old French referee Clement Turpin to officiate for both European teams in tonight’s quarter-final.

Two braces from their young star midfielder Jude Bellingham and a goal from captain Harry Kane saw the Three Lions enter the game with a 3-2 win over hosts Mexico. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland’s admirable brace produced perhaps the tournament’s biggest shock as the Scandinavians knocked out five-time champions Brazil in the round of 16 with a 1-2 win.

The winner will face either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals.

Three French referees and two Spanish referees are the FIFA-selected executive team for this quarter-final between Norway and England, named as follows:

  • Referee: Clement Turpin
  • Assistant Referee 1: Nicholas Danos
  • Assistant Referee 2: Benjamin Pages
  • Fourth Officer: Alejandro Hernandez
  • Reserve Assistant Umpire: Jose Enrique Naranjo

England manager Thomas Tuchel has some history with the Frenchman.

“Two things were not level – the pitch was not in good condition and the referee was also, unfortunately, grade E,” said an angry Tuchel after Bayern Munich’s side lost to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2022/23.
“I’d give him one out of 10. He was absolutely terrible. It’s unbelievable at this level. He was whistling for everything and anything. Everything was against us.” Tuchel was sent to the stands by Turpin after being shown two yellow cards.

He has already taken charge of three matches at the 2026 World Cup, including England’s 4-2 group-stage win against Croatia, Paraguay against Australia and Colombia’s round of 16 victory over Ghana.

Nicholas Danos and Benjamin Pages (Assistant Referees)

Nicolas Danos has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2013. The 45-year-old plays as a lineman in Ligue 1. He has extensive tournament experience serving for every Euro since 2016. He selected his entire field support ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Before today’s game, he has run the lines with Turpin in the same games.

The Spaniard has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2014. Hernandez has been working in La Liga since 2012. He made his international debut as a center fielder during Brazil’s match against Haiti earlier this World Cup. Jose Enrique Naranjo (Reserve Assistant Referee)

Jose Enrique Naranjo is listed in FIFA since 2019. He was promoted to the FIFA International Assistant Referee List in 2019. Prior to the tournament, he served as an active on-field assistant referee, including a Group F match between Tunisia and the Netherlands.
