With Brazil’s national football team heading to India for an international friendly, Kolkata will emerge as a likely host. According to the report of ESPN BrazilThe Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is in advanced talks with Indian organizers to bring the five-time world champion to the subcontinent.
Discussions between the CBF and Indian stakeholders have reportedly started during the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. The driving force behind Brazil’s interest in playing in India is the huge support received from Indian fans during the tournament, with pictures of enthusiastic supporters on social media.
According to reports, Brazil will play three friendly matches between late September and early October. Two matches against Australia on September 25 in Townsville and September 29 in Brisbane have already been fixed. The CBF is now negotiating for a third match, which could potentially be held in India.

Brazil’s opponent for the proposed match is yet to be decided. ESPN Brazil Bangladesh, Singapore and Qatar were also strongly requested to host the team. However, at this stage, negotiations with India have already taken place.
